Our firm unites site staff with a centralized administrative team, each contributing to the firm's goals and client needs. The CENTERS team is innovative, entrepreneurial, trail-blazing, and ambitious for both CENTERS and our clients. Today, CENTERS provides management services for 14 clients.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Coordinator of Facility Operations is responsible for the direct oversight of the day-to-day operation of the Recreation Center and auxiliary spaces as it relates to student staffing, policy implementation and enforcement, facility rental bookings, equipment replacement and repair, and janitorial and custodial operation. 

 

This position will work on-site at our Moraine Valley Community College location in Palos Hills, IL. Opened in 2014, FitRec is a 113,000 sq. ft. building, offering users the latest equipment, fitness spaces, and technology. The facility is also the home of Moraine Valley Athletics and several academic programs and courses. The department serves a diverse community of students, faculty/staff, and over 4,000 community members.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage space allocation, including internal and external reservations and facility rentals via facility reservation software
  • Coordinate event/reservation logistics
  • Support the department’s risk management program by developing and implementing the emergency action plan and medical action plan; conduct safety and emergency procedures trainings and safety/emergency response skills audits; and provide assistance with intake and first outreach for injury reports
  • Assist with oversight of the 3rd party custodial service company
  • Oversee policies and procedures development and enforcement
  • Cultivate and establish vendor relationships and procure the necessary supplies to maintain and operate the facility efficiently and effectively
  • Assist in the preparation of requested reports and data to the client and CENTERS central office
  • Assist in the development and management of operational budgets, strategic planning, and assessment of area
  • Incorporate CENTERS' experiential teaching philosophies to contribute to the client's student engagement and learning goals

Staff Supervision:

  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and provide direction for part-time employees
  • Responsible for approving timecards and preparing necessary documents/reports for bi-weekly payroll

Site Specific Responsibilities:

  • Some non-traditional hours required, including some early mornings or evenings and occasional weekend hours

  • Assist with student employment recruitment information and orientation sessions

  • Serve as the primary contact and scheduler for Moraine Valley’s College 101 course

  • Support departmental intramural events and other special events targeting students, faculty/staff, and the community
  • Serve as liaison to athletics department related to use of auxiliary spaces and access control

  • Lead the department in tracking and organizing locker rentals for students, faculty/staff, and community

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 or more years of work experience required
  • Experience working in higher education, recreation, or sports
  • Demonstrated experience within facility operations
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA certification (or willing to obtain)
  • Experience using facility management software

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the work day
  • Consistently operates a computer and office equipment
  • Walking or working with natatorium and sport facilities 30% of the work day
  • Must be able to traverse throughout the arena and campus. Regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally ladders or stools.
  • Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with arena patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.
