Overview

All Events & Conference Services Staff are employees of Centers LLC, which manages the event planning and execution for Goucher College. CENTERS, LLC is a professional management firm specializing in facility, operation, and program management for higher education. CENTERS' management approach is customized for each client yet retains our uniform quality. Our firm unites site staff with a centralized administrative team, each contributing to the firm's goals and client needs. The CENTERS Team is innovative, entrepreneurial, trail-blazing, and ambitious for both CENTERS and our clients. Today, CENTERS provides management services for 14 clients. 

 

Event Hosts are responsible for working under the instructions of the event coordinator to assist with the Events & Conference Services office administration and event execution.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the venue prior to the client’s arrival to ensure the facility is clean, stocked, set up, open and prepared for use. 

  • Monitor and rove the venue during the event to identify and respond to any custodial or safety issues.

  • Make client introductions, orient client with the venue and set up, troubleshoot issues and provide customer service throughout the event.

  • Coordinate with other Goucher College staff during event. Work as a team to ensure safety of guests and successful event execution.

  • Greet patrons and guests cordially and graciously. Be prepared to assist those with mobility challenges with finding ADA entrances, seating and restrooms.
  • Answer the Box Office phone line and respond to voicemail messages or forward them to the appropriate stakeholder; delete messages responded to. Check the Events email account, responding to inquiries as necessary and keeping inbox organized.

  • Assist in set up and break down duties as assigned. Complete and submit event summary. Complete a final walk through of the event space and then secure the facility.

  • Report issues to supervisors and management as they arise.
  • Attend all staff meetings and communicate as needed through emails, group messaging, telephone, etc.
  • Follow and adhere to all procedures and guidelines.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent communication skills including active listening
  • Service-oriented and able to resolve customer grievances
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software
  • Ability and willingness to enforce policies
  • Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.

  • Maintain flexible hours for events that occur on weekends and evenings

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the work day

  • Must be able to traverse throughout the center
  • Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs.
