CENTERS is currently operating university campus recreation centers at ten site locations within the United States.


    • Lead outdoor trips on designated days
    • Be responsible to make sure that all trips stay on time and agenda
    • Demonstrate proficiency in necessary outdoor skills
    • Show a commitment to providing quality customer service
    • Possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record
    • Assist in organization and registration of outdoor trips
    • Assist with the pre and post-trip processes, mileage of trip, transportation, etc.
    • Lead participants before, during, and after the outdoor trips
    • Enforce rules and regulations on outdoor trips with all participants
    • Handle any medical or other emergency situation that may occur
    • Ensure the safety of all participants
    • Teach participants about the natural world around them and minimum impact theory on the environment
    • Instruct participants on proper technique, demonstrate skills and guide when necessary
    • Conduct meetings with participants before each outdoor trip
    • Possess a positive attitude


    • American Red Cross Community First Aid and CPR course or equivalent training
    • Bloodborne Pathogens training
    • Attend trip leader training workshop
    • Ability to use or, learn to use, various computer software programs.
    • Ability to work as part of, and lead a team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge of standard practices and demonstrated experiences in Campus Recreation
    • Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm; strong communication and presentation skills
    • Analytics skills to: identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent, logical decisions
    • Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced life choices

    Preferred Requirements:  Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness Advanced First Aid, or Wilderness First Responder from Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA), Wilderness Medical Institute (WMI) or SOLO.

    • Outdoor physical recreation
    • Standing or walking for at least 100% of the work day
    • Occasional bending, stooping
    • Hearing and talking
    • Handling the rigors of each outdoor trip


    • Adventure guides may clock in on days that they are working on trip planning (for example, grocery shopping and van pick-up if it is the day before) or post-trip meetings.
    • All expenses paid during the trip and registration is free for all trips.
