    Job Function: 

    This position is responsible for operating the Member Services Desk including the Pro Shop within the Recreation Center. Membership Specialists handle a high volume of a variety of requests and are expected to be an information resource to all patrons regarding facilities, programs and services.


    Job Responsibilities:


    Customer Experience

    • Produce high levels of customer experience to all members and guests regarding memberships, facility operations, programs, classes, rules and regulations.
    • Respond to customer phone calls and in-person questions regarding the Recreation Center.
    • Greet members and guests in a cheerful and welcoming manner to create and maintain an atmosphere that cultivates long-term participation.
    • Provide educational and entertaining tours to inquiring members and guests, highlighting the facility’s features and offered programs.


    • Perform financial transactions for the selling of memberships, guest passes, lockers rentals, programs, services, pro shop merchandise and facility rentals.
    • Accurately complete and process all necessary paperwork for memberships, guest passes, facility rentals and programs.
    • Manage inventory and maintain merchandise to ensure quality, safety and security within the pro shop.
    • Understand and be able to suggestive sell features and options of all membership types, programs and services.
    • Create, run and review all cash drawer reports at the end of each shift.
    • Prepare shift cash drawer report at the beginning and end of each day.


    • Enforce University Recreation policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction.
    • Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre and post incident procedures.
    • Assist with locker clean out on a semesterly basis, including cleaning, processing content, resetting combinations, and reporting maintenance issues.
    • Troubleshoot facility access issues by verifying member access and appropriate member status.


    Job Expectations:

    • Currently enrolled as a student of Jacksonville State University.
    • Current certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or ability to complete training within 2-4 weeks after hiring date.
    • Prior experience as a (customer experience ambassador) for at least a semester.
    • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
    • Utilize SubItUp to communicate work availability to supervisors and co-workers.
    • Ability to handle several tasks at once with frequent interruptions.
    • Attend all position specific trainings and meetings throughout each semester.
    • Demonstrate ability to work with staff, members and guests.
    • Ability to follow directions in the moment and with a smile.
    • Maintain professionalism and discretion when dealing with departmental information.
    • Ability to work throughout all hours of facility operation including nights and weekends.
    • Arrive promptly for shifts and presenting a professional appearance.



    Technical Competencies

    • Basic computer competency.

    • Interaction with patrons, faculty, staff.
