Centers is currently operating campus recreation centers at ten universities within the United States.

    The Health and Recreation Center at Harper College is a state-of-the-art facility in Palatine, Illinois, currently under CENTERS management. The newly renovated 135,000 square foot state of the art facility is slated to open in August 2018 and offers a four court fieldhouse, suspended jogging track, aquatics center, fitness studios, cardio/strength areas and numerous programs, services, intramural sport activities and special events.

     

    Responsibilities

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Provide members with accurate information about strength and cardio equipment
    • Demonstrate safe and effective instruction of all equipment 
    • Provide fitness equipment orientations as requested
    • Enforce fitness floor, elevated track & facility policies and procedures
    • Ensure cleanliness of the fitness floor, equipment & track
    • Store any equipment at the conclusion of the day’s/night’s activities
    • Assist members with spotting or lifts
    • Respond to any incidents/accidents and follow the emergency action plan
    • Attend all staff trainings and meetings
    • Represent the Department of Campus Recreation in a positive light at all times
    • Other duties as assigned by management

     

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Minimum

    • Maintain current CPR/AED & first aid certification (certification provided by HRC)
    • Must demonstrate comprehensive understanding of all cardiovascular and strength equipment
    • An understanding of proper spotting and lifts
    • Knowledge of standard practices in recreation
    • Passion for fitness and wellness 
    • Outstanding customer service
    • Able to be flexible and work evenings, mornings and some weekends


    Preferred Skills

    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
    • Experience in fitness/athletic setting
    • Professional aspirations in health, fitness or recreation field

    • Standing or walking for at least 50% of the work day
