CENTERS is a management company that specializes in campus recreation. We partner with universities to manage their departments, facilities, finances, and deliver exceptional customer service. Since 1998, Centers remains the first and only mission centric organization committed to student development and departmental excellence on behalf of its clients. Centers is currently operating campus recreation centers at ten universities/colleges within the United States.

 

The Graduate Assistant of Membership & Marketing will assist in the promotion of Campus Recreation through special event management, marketing and promotional opportunities and member events/interactions. The graduate assistant will assist in the supervision of part-time member & guest service staff and marketing assistants.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations, training and scheduling of area part-time student staff
  • Manage all equipment issue procedures, follow-up on missing or damaged items and manage equipment replacement inventory
  • Coordinate locker maintenance and clean-outs with operations staff
  • Assist with editing of marketing content and distribution to the appropriate channels
  • May assist in design and production of print, web, and social interaction materials for the entire department
  • Maintain social networking accounts and assisting with maintenance of website
  • Assist with inventory, pricing and marketing of all products for the equipment issue desk and Pro Shop
  • Instruct three PEL (Physical Activity) courses per each 8-week sessions

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll for part-time student staff
  • Assist with monthly membership reports and audits
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the comprehensive departmental member recruitment and marketing plan
  • Collaborate across campus departments and within the Marshall community to promote, develop, manage and implement recreation special events
  • Attend and serve as an active member of various department committees
  • Assist with the annual budget to include preparation, forecasting and monitoring of expense and revenue as it relates to area of responsibility 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend Graduate Assistant Training Week & Staff Retreat
  • Assist with annual All Staff Training
  • Attend all staff and committee meetings as assigned
  • Hold regular office hours each week
  • Evening/Weekend work responsibility as required

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Advertising, Business Marketing, Sports Administration, Higher Education or closely related field
  • Acceptance into the College of Graduate Studies at Marshall University
  • Leadership and supervisory abilities of undergraduate students and interns
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a professional team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Design (Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver)
  • Knowledge of Daxko Sprectrum software preferred
  • Strong written and verbal skills

Human Relations:

Internal contacts include staff at all levels. External contacts include external customers and vendors. Contact involves troubleshooting, informing, exchanging information, negotiating, making recommendations, and giving information or instructions.
