    The Senior Staff Accountant works within the accounting team and collaborates with account managers to record and reconcile transactions on a monthly basis. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting, as well as financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned. This position assists with developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

     

    Depending on experience and proficiency, this position will assist in a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end tax and audit preparation, site audits and the support of budget and forecast analytics. The position will regularly communicate with clients, regional account managers, senior-level executives and an ownership group, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. These responsibilities will be shared between another senior staff accountant.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
    • Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization and its clients; follow internal controls
    • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of client accounts; manage a minimum of 4 accounts monthly
    • Manage vendor payables on time and maintain accurate records
    • Collaborate with clients’ finance department managers to support overall objectives
    • Assist with the daily banking requirements and initiate cash transfers
    • Integrate transactions from site accounts with corporate accounting system and perform adjusting general ledger entries as needed
    • Review bank statements, monitor cash flow and short-term fund investments.
    • Prepare monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information
    • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the team
    • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
    • Financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis
    • Conduct timely year-end close and audit(s)
    • Process and remit business income, sales and use tax filings
    • Provide training to staff as needed and advise regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
    • Respond to inquiries from clients and firm-wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like
    • Collaborate with other Senior Staff Accountant providing coverage and backup when needed
    • Ability to travel to sites on a limited basis
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Business Administration, Finance) required, CPA preferred
    • Minimum of three (3) to 5 years of full-time experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area
    • Demonstrated experience of fiscal accountability and budget forecasting
    • Ability to produce concise, logical reports
    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains strongly preferred

    • Proficient use of Accounting Information Systems
    • Successful track record of processing monthly and annual financial close cycles
    • Proficient in US GAAP standards; capable of researching technical bulletins
    • Experience with MS Office and SharePoint
